This was Phase I of the 2-year work plan to construct a modern facility with capacity to serve vessels with max capacity 8000 passengers. The facility is on the site of "Cruise Terminal 3" (port's southern / B side), west of Jetty Park and east of The Cove (dining-shopping-attractions complex). On June 7, 2017, engineering and design works for the new terminal were officially approved. In late-April 2017, Port Canaveral started construction works on a new cruise terminal. In April 2023 was proposed the construction of a new cruise terminal on the Port's southern side.

All parking lots are secure and patrolled 24-hours/day. Parking is close to the terminal and only a short walk on even pavement to the entrance. Parking Cost at the Port
520 in Cocoa, watch for signs for State Road 528, the Beachline. Veer right onto 528 and continue east for approximately 10 miles. You’ll go over bridges for the Indian River, Merritt Island and the Banana River. Watch for Exit #205, Beachline Expressway (S.R 528 East) and drive east for approximately 12 miles toward Port Canaveral.
The project's total cost was USD 7,5 million, with approx 2/3 of the cost covered by FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation). The Port's entry channel was cleared from obstructions (bridges, power lines) and is now without air draft restrictions. It’s the ideal home port for these ships, being so close to Orlando theme parks for a combined Disney-themed vacation and cruise. The port authority suggests that you directly drive to your cruise ship Terminal and drop off passengers and luggage. Porters are available to help you with your baggage and attached missing bag tags if you forgot yours at home. Drivers will be directed to the adjacent parking structure. The development project allowed the terminal to handle larger cruise ships (carrying up to 5,500 passengers).
A little farther away from the port is the nearby Kennedy Space Center to the north as well as the town of Cocoa Beach to the south. Cocoa Beach is a classic beach town with a large pier and plenty of “beachy” activities like putt-putt and go-karts, along with a number of restaurants. As with most terminals, the experience when you get off the ship is different than when you board. While the boarding side of the terminal is filled with modern style, the debarkation area is decidedly more utilitarian. No matter whether you’re a VIP or just a regular Joe, you’ll definitely be comfortable while you wait.
If you're planning to drive to Port Canaveral from points north and south, take I-95 to North Atlantic Avenue in Cape Canaveral, and turn left onto North Atlantic Avenue. If you're coming from points east, such as Orlando, take State Road 528 to Port Canaveral, then use Exit 54A for A Terminals or Exit 54B for B Terminals. Oversize parking for RV's and buses is also available at each Cruise Terminal. Seating in each cruise terminal is based on ship size, with ample seating for the expected passenger count. The journey from Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral is about 45 miles and takes at least 45 minutes for the trip. The best way to drive from Orlando to Port Canaveral Cruise Terminals is on SR-528 (Beachline Expressway), a toll road.
Fortunate enough to be a guest with access to the VIP waiting area? The terminal features seating for 500 in an area that is sectioned off from the general boarding waiting room. Given the new terminal and health protocols, the layout looks to be a bit different than you might be used to. For those that need more help there will still be check-in stations staffed, but the emphasis on the traditional method of check-in seems diminished.
